Trust me, I KNOW you don’t follow this blog because you like to read about my 2 cents on Sheboygan County.  You don’t have to lie to me, really.  After reading some of the “great” stories throughout 2009, I really only have ONE question and that is:

What is Really Wrong in Sheboygan?

Do you have an answer?  Well, of course you do.  Every one that lives in the city, or visits the Press forum knows exactly what is “wrong” with Sheboygan.  I think you can get my sarcasm.  People jump to conclusions, post ignorant, hateful comments all day long on Press articles.  Others run their mouths, point fingers from this guy to that guy, but really what is the issue?

Is it the crime wave, sorry DRUG TYPHOON, that has been barreling down on Sheboygan over the last 10 years?  Is it because nobody gives a damn about anything unless it affects them?  We as people that live in the county have seen some weird things happen, scratch our heads when we see the city do something unexpected (ala Blue Harbor), or even yell at someone because clearly, you can raise a better child than those that appear weekly in the Press articles.

My point is that none of us are really ever going to know what the problem is.  All we can do is try to better our community in any way that we know how to.  It might start with the education of a child, how are the school systems?  Why can’t parents be more involved in their child’s lives?  The gangs don’t HAVE to be the parent.

One of the first things that I think of when I read an article like THIS ONE is “Why can’t the Press report on something else?”.  Only going back about 15 years, you didn’t read about stuff like this in the paper, why do we HAVE to read about it now?  I would say that it’s because the article titles sell more papers, but we know how that is going for newspapers all across the world.  Maybe the COMMUNITY of Sheboygan County would be better if they read about the good things that were happening.

There are positive things that happen in Sheboygan.  I recently had an individual come to me and ask if he could post about the GOOD things that are happening around the city.  Yes I said, that would be great.  And I think that the overall outcome is positive.  Point the children in the right direction, that’s all you can do.

Why is the drug problem so bad in Sheboygan?

Is it because there are less cops?  The cops we have are bad and cannot catch the drug dealers?  Are the judges bad for letting repeat  offenders back out on the streets only to cause more havoc?  What about our lucky citizens that get out on bail while waiting for their court date and COMMIT more crimes?

So, I am going to follow up on this post with something a bit more positive.  Stay tuned.

Yes, it is true, Blogsheboygan.com has become a fan of Twitter (for some time now) and finally signed up for an account.  I realized that I could tweet local deals to the fine, upstanding citizens of this wonderful city (at least the ones with Twitter) and eveyone would be happier.

It has been a while since I posted here.  At first I thought about just giving up on the blog, but then I remembered that I like to give my 2 cents on this “wonderful” city we all call home.  I like to poke fun at things and whenever the latest news is brought up in conversation, I am on it like stink on sh*t.

Crime

The crime has been off the wall lately around the city and I am even surprised at myself that I haven’t made too many comments, here or on the Press website.  Usually, by the time I get to the article on the website, there is already the spelling Nazi, Grammar Nazi and crime haters on the comments section.

Most of the crime is domestic abuse, drug dealers from another city or someone shootin’ for “Weinie of the Week” on 105.7.  The crimes against children seem to be popping up a bit more and sexual predators are being released into Sheboygan at the rate of a couple per year.  That doesn’t take away from the numerous DUI’s and the possibility that one of Sheboygan’s Most Wanted got caught in Mexico.

Drive Thrus

Driving thru at the Dairy Queen in Sheboygan Falls the other day, I noticed a sign that stated the drive thru speaker line had been damaged, so please start your order when ready.  Don’t you think that since most of your traffic comes from the drive thru, you might want to get that fixed as fast as possible?  I understand the economy is in the tank and people don’t have money, but you do need to spend money to make money, right? 

Another drive thru experience that I had a while ago was at Taco Bell.  I don’t eat there much, but the last time that I did I was greeted with “Hello, how are you today?”.  WTF is that?  Am I supposed to go into how I really am today, or is my order good enough?  When I say fine and pause to hear nothing, what the hell is the next step?  Do I give my order, wait for a reply to my reply, WTF!  That is so annoying that restaurants still haven’t standardized the greeting when you pull up to the drive thru speaker.  Well, except McDonalds of course, since they use a recording greeting for some reason and it usually confuses people either asking about a menu item from morning or the voice is different from the one actually taking the order.

Weather

This is another one that I wanted to touch base on, because I know we are all waiting for Winter to end.  When the Winter takes this long to figure out what the hell it wants to do, we all know the Summer months are too close and are going to be hotter than hell!  Hang in there, it’ll all be over soon and we can all deal with blistering temps and jerk-off drivers

The recent press article about vandals in the Glenbeulah cemetery got me thinking about hauntings, etc.  Do you think Sheboygan County has any haunted history?  We all know of the cemetery mentioned in the article, but are there any other attractions or locations that have a haunted “tag” on them?

Just doing a quick search on Google, I was able to find the following links that have additional information regarding haunts in Sheboygan County.

There are a couple of stories regarding the “Spanish House” in Sheboygan and some stop sign story that I really never understood.  The stories have been around and have changed over the years, but I thought in the spirit of the Halloween season, I would see if anyone had their own haunting stories to share.

I have been interested in the paranormal for about 5 years now and really have never had any experiences that blew my hair back.  I am not sure if I would want to see something paranormal, but when I think about it, I do get excited.

There are plenty of shows on TV to feed your need for paranormal activity as well.

• Ghosthunters on SciFi – Wednesdays at 8pm
• Most Haunted on Travel Channel – Fridays at 7pm
• Paranormal State on A&E – Mondays at 9pm

There are more shows available, but these three are the best if you want to see real footage caught on tape.  The rest of the shows deal more with stories and re-enactments, which don’t really do me any good.
