The Spanish House in Sheboygan has a creepy feeling to it, definitely. It’s not open for trespassing but a few years ago, my friend and I snuck in to take pictures. It’s very run down but beautiful. I don’t believe the story of the husband killing his family, but I have seen the stains on the sign. You can’t see them in the day, but if you shine your headlights at it at night, you’ll see them. However, I’ve seen the same stains on many signs around the state and I don’t believe it’s anything paranormal. I’ve lived in plenty of haunted houses and psychism runs in my family. Myself and my brother inherited it through our mother. I felt a presence there, but nothing extremely shocking. Sorry to disappoint. Just an old town legend. It’s also said that if you have your radio on and you pull into the garage, it’ll change to Spanish music. Tried that, and it’s not true.

Thanks for all the comments people. I think there must be some haunts in the city, maybe we need to talk to some of the older folks around town.

Hey Steven. Thanks for debunking of the stop sign myth. It’s amazing that after countless episodes of numerous different ghost hunter type shows that people still blindly believe anything. Have you contacted that person that posted ahead of you? Those sound like interesting claims! By the way, I’d love to investigate with you guys. I would talk about it on the air and blog it.

The stop sign is covered in paint and egg whites. It’s not blood. You can even see the finger prints from where someone reached overhead to smear the paint on the sign. The egg whites are from people pelting the sign with eggs. That’s why it looks like it bleeds when you shine a light at it. I do get a kick out of all the stories about the stop sign and the people that claim to have seen ghosts there, but there is not one piece of documentation to back any of it up. I get calls ALL THE TIME about so and so who claims he or she “Saw a ghost at the stop sign” on such and such a date, yet they NEVER have any evidence of it. As someone who did “Ghost hunts” as a kid before even getting into paranormal research, I can tell you that we always took at least one piece of equipment to document with. I don’t know anyone that didn’t. The fact that the accounts of what the “ghosts” looked like or what they did are always different further blows away the already paper thin credibility of the claims. It’s an urban legend that has been popular since I was a kid and no matter how many times it’s been debunked, people seem unable to accept it as a legend. It’s also COMPLETELY unrelated to the Spanish House.

As for the Spanish House itself, it was a beautiful building until a bunch of idiots decided it would be “So cool” to break into it for a thrill, thereby destroying the place in the process. Do yourselves a favor and actually research a location first. Get the REAL history and take the urban legends for what they are: Legends. ALWAYS GET PERMISSION before you go ANYWHERE to investigate and if it’s a public place, ALWAYS FOLLOW THE LAW TO THE LETTER and leave when the place closes.

Well, I am a person who can see ghosts. I dont care if you dont agree. But my current house is right by Moose Park. My house is haunted badly. In my pantry you will get a tap on the shoulder at night around the hours of 11pm and 4pm. Also when leaving you feel like you are being followed until you turn around. In my bedroom the word ‘one life’ appered. The window one night had a hand banging on it and hit so hard my window was cracked. The Living room had objects moved. chairs where circled around my couch
