Remember Radio Flyers?  Those wagons could be banged up and used for just about anything.  These days wagons aren’t the same.  They are made from plastic and always have to “look cool”.  What was wrong with the way the Radio Flyer looked?  I bright red wagon is a part of hometown history.

Radio Flyer

If you have a wagon like this just sitting around collecting dust, creating a trip hazard in your garage, take a look at this list and see what you could be using it for.

  • A Fun Form of Transportation for Kids – Allow your children to use the wagon for whatever they want, some of the most fun kids can have is with a wagon and imagination.
  • A Great Way to Take Pets for a Ride – Do you have a pet that doesn’t get outside much?  Throw your small puppy or kittens into a carrier and had down to the lake or park for a nice walk.
  • A Cart for the Farmers Market – You never have enough arms to carry home all the fresh produce you just bought.  Why not bring that wagon along for extra capacity?
  • Extra Seating – Small children can use the wagon as a seat at parades, festivals or other summer activities.
  • A Mobile Lemonade Stand – When nobody wants to come by your home for some lemonade, bring the refreshing summer drink to them.
  • A Cooler – Using a wagon as a cooler isn’t anything new.  Pack the wagon with ice and allow the steel wagon to keep any beverage you want ice cold.
  • Gardening – Dirt, wood chips, tools or whatever you need to haul around the garden can be accomplished with an old wagon.
  • A Tech-less Play Station – There are many things a child can use a wagon for, let them alone with one for a while and you’ll be amazed at what the wagon “turns into”.
  • A Flower Box – Use that old wagon as a flower box for your porch or deck area.  It’s easy to move and adds a bit of old country charm as a decoration.

There you have it.  The top ten things to use a wagon for, other than tripping over, and you didn’t even have to think about it for yourself!

This list was posted in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal.  I trimmed it to save room and added my own 2 cents to each one.
